She's back! For all of you not in the know, two things: 1) I am a huge Harry Potter Fan (HUGE! If we have spoken for more than 10 minutes without me making some sort of HP reference, then lucky you - I was off my game that day); 2) Robert Galbraith is J.K. Rowling. It took me a little while to pick up this book because I couldn't quite put Harry behind me and move onto Jo(Yes, that's a first name basis - thank you)'s other books. Casual Vacancy was not my cup of tea but this is fantastic.
I gave The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith 4.5 because I feel like I have been judging all these books very kindly recently. Or maybe it's just because I've been reading a lot of good books. It is fantastic. Galbraith spins a story of murder and intrigue when we are thrown into the world of Cormoran Strike - a retired British soldier who is now a private detective undergoing a slow period of financial difficulty. His luck changes when an old acquaintance walks into his office seeking closure on his famous sister's suicide the same day as he takes on a new secretary, Robin Elliott - who proves to be much more useful than he originally thinks.
This book is full of twists and turns and Jo/Robert's general brilliance. If you want a narrative that will suck you in and take you on a wonderful and mysterious adventure - I would highly recommend this one.
